Mental Health
In the UK, 1 in 4 adults face mental health issues annually, with anxiety and depression affecting 1 in 6 weekly. Suicide rates are 10.4 per 100,000, particularly high among men aged 20-49, and 1 in 8 children aged 5-19 have a diagnosable mental condition. In Nottinghamshire, anxiety and depression affect 16-20% weekly, with a slightly lower suicide rate of 10.1 per 100,000, but higher self-harm rates among young people. Access to specialized care remains challenging, with waits over 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months). National and local efforts focus on increasing mental health support and community-based initiatives.
Mission:
We promote mental wellness by offering support, raising awareness, and empowering individuals to manage their mental health in a stigma-free community.
Vision:
A community where mental health is prioritized, stigma-free, and everyone has the tools to thrive.
Our Impact
We educate the public on mental health through targeted campaigns, reducing stigma and fostering open dialogue while collaborating with local media, schools, and businesses to make mental health a community priority, ensuring information is accessible to all.
We provide free or low-cost mental health services, including counseling and workshops, making support more affordable. Additionally, we offer an online resource platform where individuals can access tools and local service directories to improve accessibility.
We empower individuals through volunteer training and peer support networks, enabling them to become mental health advocates. These mental health champions facilitate open discussions, provide support, and direct those in need to appropriate resources.
We introduce mental health programs in schools and workplaces, promoting early intervention and teaching individuals to recognize early signs of mental health challenges. These initiatives help prevent more serious mental health issues by encouraging proactive well-being strategies.
We regularly evaluate our programs through feedback and data analysis, adapting them to meet the community’s changing needs. This ongoing assessment ensures that our initiative remains effective, sustainable, and impactful.
